June Almeida went on to become a pioneer of virus imaging, whose work has come roaring back into focus during the present pandemic.</p>
<p dir="auto">:June Dalziel Almeida was a Scottish virologist, a pioneer in virus imaging, identification, and diagnosis. Her skills in electron microscopy earned her an international reputation. In 1964, she was recruited by St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School in London.</p>
